Narrow Sight
We often say "seeing is believing," but sometimes, our own eyes are the very things that deceive us most.
Narrow sight is more than just a physical limitation; it is a fortress of the mind. When we focus solely on immediate gains or stubbornly cling to a single prejudice, the world shrinks into a tiny keyhole. We peer at life through this hole, mistaking the glimpse for the whole, unaware that we are missing the vast constellations above the open wilderness.
In an era of information explosion, this limitation has, paradoxically, intensified. Algorithms feed us within "information cocoons," allowing us to indulge in the echo of our own voices. This intellectual myopia is far more dangerous than physical nearsightedness because it strips away our capacity to grasp complexity.
How to Break Through?
• Active Questioning: Be wary of opinions that feel too comfortable.
• Step into the Wild: Engage with the unknown and the things you once resisted.
• Admit Ignorance: New wisdom can only fill a cup that realizes it is empty.
The expansion of one's horizon begins the moment we realize we are confined. Rather than being content with the patch of blue sky seen from the bottom of a well, it is better to leap out and embrace the vastness that makes the soul tremble.
