Much of human suffering does not stem from events themselves, but from the obsession that refuses to let go.
We often cling tightly to a broken‑down relationship, an unfulfilled expectation, or an unattainable goal. We replay the past in our minds over and over, imagining everything will unfold according to our own script. We believe persistence equals victory, and obsession stands for devotion and sincerity. Therefore, we fight hard against reality, resist change, and refuse to accept outcomes against our wishes.
Yet reality follows its own rules. Not every wish can come true, and not everyone can be kept by our side. When obsession overwhelms reason, we trap ourselves. The harder you hold on, the tenser your heart becomes. The more you force a desired result, the heavier your disappointment grows. Pain is essentially the huge gap between what you expect and what actually is.
Obsession itself is not wrong. Devoting yourself whole‑heartedly to worthy people and things is precious passion. Still, there is a fine line between dedication and fixation. Dedication means you try your best and accept whatever result comes. Fixation means you demand what you want and reject all other possibilities.
Most of the time, what traps you is not loss, but your refusal to let yourself go. You do not have to force life to give you a definite answer. Some stories are meant to have no ending. Learning to embrace regret and reconcile with unmet desires is neither surrender nor defeat — it is setting yourself free.
Letting go does not mean giving up your passion. It means you stop forcing the world to bend to your will. Only when you open your clenched fists will you realize inner peace is your most precious reward.
